The Directorate (DASD) collects area and production estimates of various spices and arecanut from authorised agencies (State Agricultural Statistics Authority-SASA or State Horticulture Statistics Authority-SHOSA) like State Department of Economics and Statistics, Department of  Horticulture/Agriculture, Board of Revenue/Commissioner of Land Records etc. The statewise data collected are being compiled and arrived at all India figures for various spices and arecanut. These estimates are being provided to Horticulture Statistics Division of the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India periodically for releasing the estimates on area and production of horticultural crops including spices at National level. Latest estimates on area, production of spices and arecanut are given below.
