HOME / Indian spices exports moved up
Indian Spices export at a whopping high in 2020-21
Despite the COVID 19 Pandemic, Indian Spices Export has sustained its upward trend in 2021-20 and attained an all-time high of 15.65 lakh tonnes valued at 3.62 billion US $ (Rs 27,193 crores). The export has shown an increase of 30% in volume, 23% in rupee value and 17% in dollar terms. The spices export in 2019-20 attained an all-time record in terms of both volume and value

Among the various spices and spice products exported, all the spices except pepper and garlic registered an increase over the previous year. Chili continued to be the most demanded spice with exports of 6,01,500 tonnes valued at Rs 8429.75 crores. Cumin was the second-most demanded spice with an export of 2,99,000 tonnes valued at Rs 4253.10 crores.
The spice that witnessed maximum increase in exports was small cardamom, which registered an increase of 251 % in volume and 160% in value. The export of ginger rose 108 % in volume and 43 % in value.
